முகப்புஆசியாIndiaC Joseph Vijay - Leading the Gen Z wave

சி ஜோசப் விஜய் – ஜென் Z அலையை வழிநடத்துபவர்

In an historical climax, Thalapathi, Joseph Vijay was sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Many people around the globe have filled the social media talking about him and congratulating him.

The Tamil Nadu population has been choosing only 2 parties AIADMK and DMK for the past 60+ years and they don’t even give any slight chance for the party NTK even though it’s leader, Senthamizhan Seeman (சீமான்), has been screaming on top of his lungs (தொண்ட தண்ணி போக கத்த) and telling people that the current state government is corrupt and people from other states have been ruling the state. He also tried to get sympathy by mentioning the Tamil population in Srilanka. For the past two decades people of Tamil Nadu (including his supporters) don’t care and not even allowed him and any of his candidates enter into assembly hall for the past 25+ years.

Now, how the TVK party could break the records and win 108 seats within the shortest span after forming the party. The obvious answer is the Gen Z population cast their vote in record numbers this time, which usually doesn’t care much about the politics. Another factor that could have caused the cleanup of electoral votes list. Kudos to ECI.

While the NTK had the support of uneducated and unemployed lazy rural boys (in Tamil they sometimes call தண்ட சோறு) where the ones who shout back for Seeman’s speeches in front of the mike. They didn’t even show their support in casting their votes during polling time. Probably they were too drunk to get up to go to vote the next day after the previous night’s party sponsored drinking parties.

The difference is that, C Joseph Vijay (CJV) and his party TVK not only motivated the rural younger population and also the urban population of youth. Basically the middle class and some of the lower income classes.

TVK not only attracted the Gen Z, they motivated children to to request their parents to vote for “Uncle Vijay “.

CJV took oath as Chief Minister yesterday. It was celebrated by the supporters around the world. The social media is filled with people from remote parts of the world like Russia, Africa congratulating him. They are not Tamilians, they were local people from Russia and Africa who grew interest in Tamil Nadu politics. A Pakistani girl who was excited about CJV got sworn in was viral on social media.

Now what?

Winning the election is only crossing haft the well. The toughest part is going to be in keeping the party corruption free for the next 5 years. He and some of his party leaders might be really vow to ensure there are no corruption by them. But I am sure some of the MLAs and even some ministers might be thinking of growing their wealth with corrupt money. How he will ensure that? It’s in the DNA of the people of India that one goes into politics to generate quick wealth in corrupt ways.

Here are our free 2 cents:

  1. First and foremost the TVK and CJV should ensure the police department is 101% corruption free. At least the top and senior officials of the state, starting from DGP to xxx.
    • The TVK made a smart move by requesting ECI to replace the DGP with an interim DGP to make sure that the electoral process is corruption free.
    • Now they have to make sure that they get their new DGP who is unbiased and corruption free. Most importantly, the new DGP not only corruption free, but also the official ranks under him are not corrupt.
    • Increase the salary for every employee in the police department including the bottom level police man. (Maybe 75,000 per month)
    • Provide best quality uniforms (similar to western countries) and mandatory to be physically fit. No police with pot bellies and can’t run if they are to to catch a culprit.
    • The motorcycle provided to the police officers should be of high standard and equipped with good quality communication devices.
  2. Ministers and MLAs don’t take the corruption money directly, except a few, not that smart take it directly.. They use the officials and government staff to collect the bribes. If they control the corrupt officials and staff, the elected leaders will have less control over executing the bribery.
    • The corrupt officials are to be strictly monitored and the public should be encouraged to identify and capture the culprits and give protection to the public who expose such criminals.
    • If a corrupt government employs are caught, their names and photographs should be published though out the state media and such officials should be dismissed immediately and ban them from taking any government employment or political position.
  3. All the ministers, MLA’s assets should be declared and available to the public before they take office and every year’s tax returns should be available for the public to see.
    • Increase the salary high (maybe 10 L per month) so that they are not tempted to accept bribes and more importantly they take stringent action against those who are corrupt reporting to them. This not only will reduce the corruption but also encourage the honest, educated youth to be interested in working for the state government.
  4. Improvement in the educational system in the state. Improve the quality of life of public school teachers and the schools. Basic infrastructure should be improved. Education is one important department that needs improvement in India.
    • Better control over private schools and colleges. The private schools are not there for money making business. The private schools should not charge gargantuan fees from their students and parents.
    • The private schools should be audited financially and functionally every quarter by the independent board with good representation by the local parents.
  5. Reduce the number of TASMARK woking hours. People should not be allowed to buy liquor in the morning during weekdays.
    • Liquor stores should not be near schools and religious establishments. (10 kilometers)
  6. Report the progress quarterly of the achievements of the manifesto and the promises made before election.

There are many things that they can do and I am sure they are already taking action.

Good luck to CJV and TVK.
